Fireworks on the 4th of July are as American as food trucks, summer camp, and national selfie day. But for your dog it can feel more like an “American Horror Story!”

A dog’s ability to hear is legendary. In fact, they can hear thunder rumbling up to 40 MILES AWAY! What’s more, new studies show that dogs in pain display increased anxiety and can be much more sensitive and reactive to loud and unpredictable noises like fireworks.

So, what can you do to give your pup freedom from fear this 4th of July?

  1. Feed your pup our MAXGEVITY Mobility Supplements. Our award nominated supplements will help heal your pup’s gut, boost the immune system, and relieve joint and arthritis related pain that may be associated with injuries and aging.
  1. Be your dog’s best friend: I’m sure you’ve heard this before but it’s timely to take a moment and refresh.  To your dog you are EVERYTHING! During times of stress and unpredictability we all would love to have a friend we can count on to help ease our path. Give your pup the gift of your friendship, your time, your presence, and your love this 4th of July, and your bond will grow ever stronger because you were there for your pup when he or she needed you most.
  1. Create a Safe Space: The last thing any dog wants in times of stress is to be left alone. Remember that the 4th of July is not the time to see if your dog can self-sooth.  The many variables involved that may trigger anxiety in your dog during this holiday, are best addressed with your presence and your love. For most dogs the safest place is in your lap, on your bed, or in your arms, so get your snuggle on with your pup and you will both make it through this holiday with flying colors.
  1. HappyTails University Training Courses: Dogs feel safer when they can communicate with you and know they are understood. Our Chief Canine Training Officer, Alison Schaefer, can teach you how to train your pup with love, kindness, patience, and consistency.  Leap into our online training course, Dog Training Fundamentals 101, and achieve that next level bond with your pup today.

We wish you and your pup the best 4th of July holiday ever and invite you to reach out to us 24/7.
